The sentence “second parts were never as good as first ones” works in a lot of situations. For example when you have a second lunch in the same day, the second lecture of the morning or the second time your girlfriend makes the pregnancy test because with the first one you couldn’t believe what you saw. However, sometimes the second parts are awesome. The second beer, the second movie of The Lord of the Rings and, of course, this article (you can find the first part here). Ready? Go.
1. When someone tells you “you drink a lot”.
We have to be honest. We made the Erasmus and we all know what was first in the list when you were in the supermarket: ALCOHOL. Why? Because it is awesome. My Erasmus could be defined as a mix of different types of alcohol, frozen pizza and pasta. The healthiest diet ever. If you like drinking games, you have to check our article 10 games you have to try before your lives fails.
2. When you receive the Erasmus scholarship.
You feel rich as fuck. Because you are. I mean, you are rich if you compare yourself with the previous yourself. You think you are king and you feel the king but you are going to do one of the mistakes of your Erasmus: the same evening you are going to buy a lot of alcohol and you are going to invite a lot of friends. Big mistake, awesome night.
3. When your parents ask you if you spend all the monthly money in 10 days.
Be ready for what I am going to say: money is like the internet in your phone, when you have it your life is beautiful but when you don’t have it you are fucked. The Erasmus scholarships are not awesome; we all know it, so you have to be careful how you spend it. After analised my Erasmus spendings I can filter them as: food, alcohol, partying and buying shit that I didn’t need but I thought they would look awesome in my room.
4. When you find a Spanish person who speaks perfect English.
I’m Spanish and I have to admit it: we are horrible talking in English. Of course, there are people that can speak it but if you find a group of 20 Spanish people I think 3 or 4 of them can speak proper English. I know, we are not awesome but at least we are not French.
5. When you have problems with the Erasmus documents.
If you don’t have any kind of problem with your new university or with your home university you can consider yourself as a lucky person. Why? Because it is horrible. You think about killing yourself before go again to the administration office. Why? Because or your English is bad, or their English is bad, or they think the problem is with your home university, or you need a different paper… Suicide.
6. When you meet with other Erasmus.
You can be always on time in your “normal” life but all will change in your Erasmus life. You don’t need to hurry… You have to enjoy each of the beautiful moments while you are living them. Trust me. I am Spanish, I know what I am talking about.
7. When someone asks you how your Erasmus is going.
I think I don’t need to explain anything. You are an adult now. You know what you did; this will follow you all your life.
8. When you arrive in the Erasmus party.
Because you know it, they are crazy. You can be drinking not expecting anything and suddenly you can see a naked guy running in front of you. Why? Because he is enjoying the Erasmus more than you. Just kidding. Because of the alcohol or some kind of drug.
9. When there is a party but you have to stay at home studying.
A rock is hard but it is harder to say goodbye to your friends when they go to a party and you have to stay at home studying for a stupid exam. You think “this is not fair… all my friends without exams and only with activities in groups and I am here studying…”. The truth is you should go to parties always because at home you are not going to do anything. And you know it. A party is the perfect moment to meet your future wife or at least take out one from the list.
10. When you have one night to finish the essay before the deadline.
Sometimes you have to work. Life can’t be perfect. I know, I know, I thought the same. But be happy, you are going to start the essay as late as possible because the life is for enjoy it. Or at least try it.
This is the second part, if you like it you can find the first part HERE. Feel free to send us your Erasmus experiences submitting a post or sending us an email to info@the-survival-bible.com
